Liquid-phase hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) is a catalytic upgrading process that is undertaken in a wide range of pressures (2–30 MPa) and temperatures (423–723 K), where hydrogen is used to exclude excess oxygen from lignocellulosic bio-oil, with the purpose of getting a product that is chemically similar to crude [2,3].High pressures are used to ensure adequate …

The Si-MoSi 2 ceramic coatings were prepared on TZM alloy through a hot dip silicon-plating (HDS) process. The hot dip experiments results showed that Si-MoSi 2 ceramic coatings have a very dense surface morphology and low roughness (0.258 ± 0.009 to 0.347 ± 0.019 μm). The Si-MoSi 2 ceramic coatings presents a typical layered structure with the outermost silicon-rich …
Section snippets Experimental. Mo was introduced to the ammonium form of a commercial ZSM-5 zeolite (Südchemie) with Si/Al = 13 or a silicalite-1 zeolite (synthesis details below) through incipient wetness impregnation (IWI) dissolving appropriate amounts of ammonium heptamolybdate (AHM) in a volume of water needed to fill the pores of the zeolite powder (210 …

1. Introduction. Steel-bonded carbide is a new engineering material prepared according to conventional powder metallurgical techniques using WC and/or TiC as the hard phase and steel as the metallic binder [1,2].Due to combining high hardness, good wear resistance, excellent oxidation resistant, superior chemical stability of the hard phase, and high …
Wan et al. synthetized four phases of molybdenum carbide (α-MoC1−x, β-Mo2C, η-MoC, and γ-MoC), studied and compared the catalytic performances for …

Herein, we synthesize the Ni-doped Mo2C catalysts by a one-pot preparation method to illuminate the effect of the number of carbon atoms in Mo2C lattice on CO hydrogenation to mixed alcohol. The Ni doping inhibits the agglomeration of Mo2C crystals into large particles and the surface carbon deposition, which increase the active surface area.
Molybdenum carbide was synthesized by the same approach. At this, both the methods: mechanical coating of γ-Al 2 O 3 by powder and impregnation of γ-Al 2 O 3 by ammonium molybdate, (NH 4) 2 MoO 4 ("chemically pure", "Galreachim", Moscow, Russia), were applied followed by drying and calcination at 350 °C to obtain MoO 3. This latter ...
The β-phase of molybdenum carbide (i.e., β-Mo2C) has been reported to be one of the most active noble metal-free electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in …
Polyethylene/boron carbide composites were fabricated using conventional polymer processing techniques. The sample containing 2 wt% (weight percent) boron carbide composite showed the best radiation shielding measurements (Harrison et al. 2008). Photon shielding properties for bismuth oxychloride (BiClO) 5, 10, 15, and 20% filled polyester ...

Cemented carbide, i.e., the material composed of tungsten (or another carbide) connected by cobalt binder is one of the most widely applied tool materials. Due to an excellent combination of wear resistance and fracture toughness, it finds its use in the machining of non-ferrous metals, drilling of concrete and many other applications.
Molybdenum carbide (β-Mo2C) supported on carbon spheres was prepared via a carbothermal hydrogen reduction (CHR) method from delaminated nanosheets of …

Molybdenum carbide (Mo 2 C) is an excellent catalyst for the hydrogenation and hydrogenolysis of hydrocarbons [8,10]. There are three catalytically relevant molybdenum carbide phases, namely, cubic (δ-Mo 2 C), hexagonal (α-Mo 2 C), and orthorhombic (β-Mo 2 C), following the notation convention defined by the Joint Committee on Power ...
Carbon coated nano molybdenum carbide (Mo 2 C) has been synthesized at 800 °C through single step reduction route using molybdenum trioxide (MoO 3) as a precursor, polypropylene (P.P) as a carbon source and magnesium (Mg) as a catalyst in an autoclave. The synthesized samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermal analysis …

The morphology was tested by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) show in Fig. 2a–c. Bulk structures were both observed for Mo 2 C, W 2 C and Mo 2 C/W 2 C electrocatalysts due to the high carbonization temperature. As shown in Fig. 2d, the lattice spacing of 0.24 nm was assigned to the dominant (101) plane of Mo 2 C similar to XRD result. Meanwhile, W 2 C was …

Hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) is one of the promising catalytic routes for converting biomass derived molecules to high value products. A key step of HDO is the cleavage of an aromatic C–O bond to accomplish the deoxygenation step, however, which is energetically unfavorable. Herein, we report a series of palladium (Pd)-incorporated α-phase of …
